The Council of Europe has accepted, via its Secretariat, a motion for resolution tabled by representative Jacob Lund, a member of the Danish Parliament and of the Council´s socialist group.

Lund gathered thirty signatures in support of the text, ten more than the twenty that is legally required. Among the signatories are members of several political groups within the body. Now the motion will be discussed by the Bureau of the Assembly. Once ratified, it will go to a committee that will draft a report on it.

The motion openly acknowledges Catalonia’s right to self-determination and goes on to say that this is a debate that should be discussed at the European level, a viewpoint expressed by various members of the Danish parliament on 12 May.
