Joan Fortuny

I began the summer working because my group, Elèctrica Dharma, has been on a tour celebrating its 40th anniversary since April. Even though the anniversary was actually last year, we decided to postpone the tour till 2015 following the death of Josep Fortuny in 2013. I won’t be going away on holiday this year because I simply won’t have time, but I may try to get away to Cadaqués for a few days. Thanks to the group, I’ve travelled around many continents. I really like Africa, especially Senegal, though I’d like to explore Australia, which is a place I’ve never been to. Anyway, every summer is different for me, and this year I’ll be both alone and with my family. While my partner is taking advantage of her holidays to travel, I’ll be busy with concerts and, since I also have two grandchildren, I’ll also spend some time with them in Barcelona in August, between concerts. There’s a yard at my house and they like to spend time there. I also like to disconnect in summer by going cycling and I’m something of a fanatic. Whenever I can I take out the bike and go on trips around Maresme. More than one good song writing idea has come to be while on the bike. Another way that I have of switching off is by listening to all sorts of music (classical, jazz, rock…). In terms of books, I’m currently reading Victus by Albert Sánchez Piñol. I’ll carry on playing concerts in September. On September 11th, Catalan National Day, we’ll play a concert with Òmnium Cultural, and after the summer we’ll carry on playing till the end of the year.
