There are still peaceful places that I love and that I want to take as much advantage of as possible
This summer is shaping up to be similar to the last three: with plenty of work and little time for holidays. The last few summers have seen a lot of turbulence in stock markets due to the uncertainty of the Greek situation and the prospect of elections and I’ll have to follow them closely. I’m based in Ibiza from April to October and so I’ll spend most of the summer there, but I’m not willing to give up the chance of doing other things and I’ll also get away to the Cerdanya and Majorca on some weekends for a change of airs. Working from Ibiza offers me the chance to do plenty of things when I finish work for the day and I love to explore quiet beaches and coves such as Cales de Compte, but in summer they tend to be full of people and I have to look for alternative ones. I also go to those coves to do some exercise because at the end of the summer I’m going to take part in a mountain bicycle competition riding from Madrid to Lisbon in pairs and an ultra trail, so I can’t let myself go physically. I like to enjoy the peace and quiet of Ibiza in places like Ses Salines; even though it may seem that the island is all about tourists and parties, there are still peaceful places that I love and that I want to take as much advantage of as possible. Instead of using the summer to read the books I have pending, I’ll spend my free time writing my next book. It’s due to be published for the Feast of Saint John and the publishers are already putting pressure on me to finish it. Finally, I’m planning to do something completely new with my wife: we’re going on a cruise. We’ll take advantage of the fact that Barcelona is a port of call for the world’s biggest cruise ship and spend a week sailing around the Mediterranean to recharge my batteries and have a rest.
